Omicron-Epsilon / Adelphi University

Brief Facts About The Chapter

The first five founding fathers of the chapter were:

Robert J Meekins (Class of '06)
Inaugral Grand Master
Sean McGrath (Class of '05/'06)
Inaugral Grand Procurator
Joseph Whitmarsh (Class of '07)
Inaugral Grand Master of Ceremonies
David Rabinowitz (Class of '05)
Inaugral Grand Treasurer
Kevin McLafferty (Class of '07)

During the fall of 2004, the group began fundraising for their chartering and participating in on campus activities to garner attention for themselves. They won the Greek Sing competition, a song and dance competition between Greek organizations almost immediately after becoming an interest group.

In January of 2005, the interest group was given Colony status by Kappa Sigma Headquarters. 24 men were pledged in, to eventually be initiated. Before initiation, the colony was encouraged to increase their ranks and seven more men were awarded the opportunity to be titled Founding Fathers. The Adelphi Colony would go on to win the Greek Olympics as well as the title of "Greek Organization of the Year" at Adelphi's annual Brown and Gold Banquet. The chapter was ready for initiation at the end of the academic year, but waited throughout the summer for their installation. In September of 2005, the Adelphi Colony of Kappa Sigma became the Omicron-Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Sigma, the 297th chapter of Kappa Sigma. As Kappa Sigma is the oldest and fastest growing fraternity in the world, they are the only Omicron-Epsilon Chapter of any fraternity worldwide.

The chapter has taken great pride in their ever evolving pledge program, which brought in six men in the Alpha Class and 18 in the Beta Class with Brother Greg Sheehan acting as Pledge Educator. The following year Brother John Defalco was appointed Pledge Educator as the two-man Gamma Class was initiated as well as for the 13-man Delta Class.
